Call for applications in the Titanium program

Titatnium
The main objectives of the Titanium Supporting International Patent Applications program are the implementation of mechanisms for the identification and protection of intellectual property on an international scale of valuable inventions developed at Gdańsk University of Technology.

The TITANIUM program is an element of the tasks of the EIRU program in the scope of increasing the transfer of knowledge and technology. Under the Program, it is possible to obtain funding to cover the costs of activities aimed at obtaining or extending international legal protection for an invention

Addressees of the program

An application for funding may be submitted by an employee, doctoral student or student of Gdańsk University of Technology.

Gdańsk Tech has established cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk

Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology and prof. Krzysztof Polkowski, rector of The Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, signed an agreement under which both universities will establish close cooperation in the organization of the international landscape forum Transforming Cityscape with Art which is going to take place in Gdańsk on 13-17 October.  

The agreement between the two universities was signed by the rectors on Tuesday, 30 March at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. In the agreement the rectors committed themselves to close scientific and promotional cooperation as part of the preparation and implementation of the international and interdisciplinary landscape forum Transforming Cityscape with Art.

Call for applications in the Polonium International Doctoral Fellowships scholarship program

The Polonium program is part of the implementation of the tasks of the IDUB project, which aims to increase the university's effectiveness in attracting the most talented candidates from outside Poland for studies at the Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology. The program grants supplementary scholarships to particularly talented foreign PhD students.  

Scholarship beneficiaries

First-year doctoral students (Poles and foreigners) who, before starting their education at the doctoral school, were permanently residing outside Poland.

Financing conditions

• The scholarship in the program is maximum PLN 5 000 gross per month.

• The scholarship is in addition to the doctoral scholarship.

Seminar of the Baltic Sea Region Universities on the subject of dormitories

Prof. Dariusz Mikielewicz, vice-rector for development and organization of Gdańsk University of Technology participated in the ‘Re-inventing Students' Housing’ seminar, during which issues related to student accommodation were discussed. The virtual meeting, organized by the Baltic Sea Region University Networks (BSRUN), was attended by members of the network of the Baltic Sea Region Universities. Gdańsk University of Technology actively participates in the activities of this network.

The participants of the seminar, which took place on 25 March, discussed the solutions applicable in their countries and at the universities they represent. Prof. Olli Niemi, a representative of Tampere University from Finland, presented the concept of a modern complex of student dormitories, the construction of which was preceded by research on the needs and expectations of students.

Another edition of post-graduate studies in Offshore Wind Energy at Gdańsk Tech

Gdańsk University of Technology is the first university in Poland to train staff for the offshore wind energy sector. Postgraduate studies that are future-oriented and fit in with the market trends are very popular, and their third edition is now starting. PKN Orlen has become a new strategic partner of the field.

Postgraduate studies in ‘Offshore Wind Energy’ were launched in autumn 2019 at the then Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology of Gdańsk University of Technology (currently: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology). Already then, it was obvious that they had great potential: the pool of 60 places was filled within three days.

Urban planner becomes twice winner of the Minister's award for her doctoral dissertation

PhD, Eng. Arch. Hanna Obracht-Prondzyńska from the Faculty of Architecture won two competitions for the award of the Minister of Development, Labour and Technology - for diploma theses, doctoral dissertations, publications and innovative solutions in the field of geoinformation, as well as in the fields of architecture and construction, planning and spatial development of housing in the 2020 edition. She received the award for the dissertation entitled ‘Spatial development of small towns in the context of the metropolisation process on the example of the Pomeranian Voivodeship’, which was prepared under the supervision of prof. Piotr Lorens, PhD,. DSc, Eng. Arch. head of the Department of Urban Design and Regional Planning at Gdańsk University of Technology.

The author of the awarded doctoral dissertation designed a model that uses Big Data and available spatial information resources collected and processed by local government institutions and public administration. The model makes it possible to conduct spatial monitoring, i.e. it allows to assess what changes occur in the space of cities and the region. Thus, it can be a support tool for shaping spatial policy, both at the local and regional level.

Covid-19. Safety rules on the Gdańsk University of Technology campus

Due to the worsening of the epidemic situation in the country - an increase in the number of infections and deaths, please follow the applicable safety rules: wear masks, maintain minimum 1.5m distance from other people and sanitize your hands while on campus, and stay at home when you have symptoms of Covid-19. Until 9 April stationary work will be limited and remote work of university administrative employees shall prevail.

We would like to remind you that in the buildings on the campus there are points for hand disinfection and temperature measurement, as well as disinfectant dispensers.

Due to the current epidemic situation, on 24 March – 9 April 2021 stationary work will be limited and the university administration shall work remotely, provided that the continuity of the functioning of the units is maintained.

Recruitment in Silicium Supporting Core R&D Facilities

The Silicium Supporting Core R&D Facilities program is part of the implementation of the EIRU program tasks in the field of effective use of existing and planned key research infrastructure under Action V.6. - Improving the Research Infrastructure Management System. 

The objective of the Program is to develop, implement and support an efficient system of research infrastructure management at the Gdansk University of Technology aimed at effective use of the University's research potential, especially in priority research areas (PRA), and at increasing its attractiveness for the most talented scientists from Poland and abroad. Managers of the projects qualified for co-financing in this Program will be able to apply for investment co-financing provided within the Core Facilities Operational Program.
