Our research works are experimentally and theoretically oriented. Experimental works are conducted at the full-scale and laboratory scale. The full-scale experiments are related to investigations of size effects in concrete and reinforced concrete beams, stability problems in large metal silos with horizontally corrugated curved sheets strengthened by vertical columns, management and control of heat supply into and heat extraction from external walls containing embedded pipes in a residential house and fatigue in steel beams.
Bridge structures focus on road bridges, railway bridges and footbridges of different construction and materials, i.e., steel, concrete (reinforced and prestressed), composite. We perform theoretical and numerical analysis, field tests of the entire structure, and laboratory test of individual structural components.
This research area focuses on water flow in a variety of man-made and natural systems. We investigate engineering solutions for efficient management of water resources, including protection from floods and droughts, as well as the effect of engineering structures and land use change on natural hydrosystems. We cover most of the major hydrosystems, including rivers, channels, lakes, reservoirs, coastal marine waters, groundwater, urban water, pipelines and industrial systems.
Research problems in this scientific area include a wide range of pavement analysis in the field of roads, highways, airports and container terminals. Research conducted concerns laboratory tests, computational analysis and field tests.
The current research activities include numerical and experimental studies on the advanced problems in linear and non-linear mechanics of complex structures and structural elements.
