Third edition of the Gdańsk Tech Sustainability Report now available

Sustainability Report
We are presenting the third edition of the Gdańsk Tech Sustainability Report, which is a summary of our University's activities in the area of implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the 2022/2023 academic year.

The report presents numerous activities undertaken by Gdańsk Tech for the benefit of the environment, society and the economy, which indicate the direction our University is taking in terms of sustainable development.

Gdańsk Tech scientists ranked among the World’s TOP 2% most influential people in science

62 scientists from Gdańsk University of Technology were featured in the World’s TOP 2% Scientists 2022 ranking, which includes most cited scientists worldwide. The ranking was compiled by Stanford University in cooperation with Elsevier.

The World’s TOP 2% Scientists is developed based on the sicentific output of researchers and adopts evaluation criteria such as the number of citations, Hirsch index, and the position and role of a given researcher on the list of authors [more on the methodology].

Gdańsk Tech nomination for the Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award

Gdańsk University of Technology is among three Polish universities nominated for the Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award in the Engineering & Technology category.

The Research Impact Leaders Award is an award given to universities and research institutions that have the greatest impact on scientific research and contribute to a better perception of the scientific achievements of Polish universities around the world.

Gryf Pomorski (Pomeranian Griffin) for prof. Edmund Wittbrodt

Prof. Wittbrodt
Prof. Edmund Wittbrodt received the Pomeranian Griffin statuette in recognition of his activities for the development of Pomeranian education and for his involvement in the creation of local government in Pomerania, as well as for joint, hard work for the common good and development of the region.

The statuette commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Self-Government, which changed Pomerania and its importance in Poland and the united Europe. The prizewinner received it from Mieczysław Struk, Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, and Jan Kleinszmidt, chairman of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Assembly.

"Community over Commercialization" is the theme for this year’s International Open Access Week (October 23-29). This theme encourages a candid conversation about which approaches to open scholarship prioritize the best interests of the public and the academic community and which do not.

Open recruitment for the kindergarten of Gdańsk University of Technology

In September, a new kindergarten at Gdańsk University of Technology began operating. Employees and students of the Medical University of Gdańsk and the University of Gdańsk can still enroll their children on preferential terms.

The Gdańsk Tech MegaMocni (Megamind) facility was established for the children of employees, PhD students and students of Gdańsk University of Technology, but by decision of the university's Rector, prof. Krzysztof Wilde, this year the youngest can be registered by all members of the academic community of Fahrenheit Universities, including MUG and UG.

National Education Day – best wishes for the Gdańsk Tech community

National Education Day – a day devoted to all employees in the field of education - is celebrated on the anniversary of the establishment of the National Education Commission, the first ministry of education in Europe. This year marks the 250th anniversary of this event.

On this occasion, we would like to express our thanks and appreciation to all academic teachers and employees of Gdańsk University of Technology who support the educational process at our University for their daily effort and we wish you all further teaching and scientific successes and undying enthusiasm in sharing knowledge. We also wish students and doctoral students, because this is a special day for them as well, the curiosity to explore the world, develop their scientific passions, and strengthen academic bonds and traditions.
