Gdańsk Tech will cooperate with the Institute of Hydro-Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences

On Tuesday, 30 November in the Senate Hall of Gdańsk University of Technology, the university authorities signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Hydro-Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Under the agreement, the university and the institute will promote each other's achievements, organize student internships and carry out joint research projects.

– Signing an agreement with IHE PAS is an important element of one of the main statutory missions of the university, that is cooperation with the socio-economic environment – said prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech. – I am convinced that our scientists, students and doctoral students will all benefit from this cooperation he added.

NCN grants for Gdańsk Tech scientists

Scientists from Gdańsk University of Technology obtained funding for the implementation of a total of 33 research projects under the MINIATURE 5, PRELUDIUM 20 and OPUS 21 competitions. The grant for Gdańsk Tech amounts to over PLN 11 million in total.

  • "Biotechnological and pharmacological potential of the microbiota of bee products", project manager: Piotr Szweda, PhD, DSc, Eng., Faculty of Chemistry, project amount: PLN 1,751,800.00, amount for Gdańsk Tech: PLN 1,623,400.00 (Gdańsk Tech is the project leader)

On May 6, 2021, the inaugural meeting of the International Scientific Effectiveness Board (ISEB) - an advisory body appointed by the Rector of the Gdansk University of Technology as part of the Initiative for Excellence - Research University (IDUB) project - was held.

Call for proposals for the II edition of the Plutonium Supporting Student Research Teams program (01.12.21-14.01.22)

Plutonium
The objective of the Plutonium Supporting Student Research Teams program is to support the activities of student research clubs, which provide a natural environment for the emergence of research group leaders, organizational leaders, and leaders who initiate new areas of research.
Budget and  financing

The mentor of a student research club can apply for funding from the Program (a student research club should be active for at least one academic year before the date of competition announcement in the Program).

Scientific Clubs may apply for the maximum amount of 300 000 PLN within the framework of five consecutive competitions.

The following types of direct costs may be funded under the project:

Prof. Edmund Wittbrodt is the Master of the Chapter of medals of the city of Gdańsk

Prof Wittbrodt
Prof. Edmund Wittbrodt was again appointed the Master of the Chapter of medals of the city of Gdańsk: the Medal of St. Wojciech (S. Adalbertus) and of the Duke Mściwoj II Medal (Mestwin II).

During the first meeting of the 9-person chapter of these medals, appointed for a four-year term by a resolution of the Gdańsk City Council of September 2021, prof. Edmund Wittbrodt, PhD, DSc, Eng. was elected the Master (chairman) of the Chapter.

The Medals of St. Wojciech and Mściwoj II have been awarded by the city council since 1997 for outstanding services to the city.
