The innovative Gdańsk Tech STOS IT complex closer to implementation

The state-of-the-art STOS Competence Center is being built on the campus of Gdańsk University of Technology. Work on this unique on a national scale and intelligent facility is in full swing. Currently, the builders are working in the installations inside the building that will have a huge impact on the functioning of the "heart" of the facility, i.e. the server room. Construction works, untypical for cubature buildings, are also in progress.

CC STOS (Smart and Transdisciplinary knOwledge Services) of Gdańsk University of Technology is being built on the campus of the university, at Traugutta Street. The investment is to act as a multidisciplinary data collection and processing center - in accordance with the latest global standards. The possibilities of CC STOS can also be used in scientific research in the field of physics, chemistry, astronomy, biotechnology or medicine, as well as for implementation research for the commercialization of science.

Call for proposals in the Scandium Baltic Region Research Grants program

Scandium
The Scandium program is part of the implementation of tasks under which it is possible to obtain a university grant to finance the costs of scientific research conducted in cooperation with partners from the Baltic Sea region of young scientists in areas compatible with the activities of Gdańsk Tech priority research area centers (PRA Centers).

Addressees of the Scandium Program

The applicant may be a Gdańsk Tech employee employed at the university as the primary place of work, who obtained a doctoral degree not earlier than 7 years before the year of submitting the application.

Projects of Gdańsk Tech researchers obtain funding from the National Science Center

Six scientists from Gdańsk University of Technology received funding for the implementation of research projects under the OPUS and PRELUDIUM BIS competitions of the National Science Center. The funds granted to Gdańsk Tech amount to over PLN 7.24 million.

Come and stay in the Gdańsk Tech dormitory during the holidays!

The same as every year, the dormitories of Gdańsk University of Technology will also be available to students during the holiday season. There are just over 1,000 places available under "Summer 2021 Action". It is possible to apply for a place from Monday 24 May.  

"Summer Action" has been held at Gdańsk University of Technology periodically for several years, enabling Gdańsk Tech students to live in university student dormitories during the summer break. This year is no different: as part of the "Summer 2021 Action", there are approximately 1,000 places available in six Gdańsk Tech dormitories (DS2, DS3, DS6, DS8, DS9, DS10).

Gdańsk University of Technology and the Kartuzy commune have concluded a license agreement for the implementation of Accessibility Standards. Thus, Kartuzy joined the group of cities that declare the creation of architectural solutions accessible to all users, including people with special needs, i.e. the disabled, seniors, parents with children in prams or pregnant women.

–The Kartuzy Commune wants to be even more accessible and more open to all residents and its guests. It is especially important that the people with special needs among us can function independently in the local community, so that they can use universal services on an equal basis. Tools such as Accessibility Standards are helpful in achieving these goals - said Mieczysław Grzegorz Gołówński, the mayor of Kartuzy.

Gdańsk Tech once again classified in Round University Rankings

In the latest Round University Rankings, Gdańsk University of Technology has been classified among six Polish universities.

The Round University Ranking (RUR) is a global university ranking that measures the performance of the world's leading universities according to 20 indicators in 4 key areas: teaching, research, international diversity and financial stability. The ranking is published by the RUR Ranking Agency based in Moscow, Russia.

Summer exam session at Gdańsk University of Technology in remote mode

The summer exam session at Gdańsk University of Technology will be held remotely: this applies to both credits for classes and exams. In individual cases, the dean of a given faculty, after obtaining the consent of the students and the academic teacher conducting the classes, may, however, decide on the form of crediting a given course in traditional mode.

During the summer semester, classes at Gdańsk University of Technology and Doctoral Schools were conducted, with few exceptions, remotely and with the use of distance learning methods and techniques. The summer examination session, which will start on 16 June 2021, will be conducted in the same way, i.e. in remote mode.

On Tuesday, 18 May, the authorities of Gdańsk University of Technology signed a cooperation agreement with the Danish University of Technology, the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna. Thanks to the memorandum, Gdańsk Tech students and scientists will have one more opportunity to exchange knowledge, perform joint research and develop professionally in the field of offshore wind energy.

Gdańsk University of Technology, as a leading scientific and research institution in the field of ocean engineering in Poland, meets market trends and focuses on even better and more effective expansion of the knowledge and competences of its students and scientists.

Team Leaders in the Process of Consolidation of Gdańsk Universities

Fahnrenheit
"Supporting university consolidation processes" is a project carried out jointly by the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk as part of the Fahrenheit University Association. As part of the project, 21 team leaders responsible for various aspects of university integration were appointed.

On 12 May another meeting of representatives of the Fahrenheit University Association was held, during which experts in 21 areas subject to consolidation were appointed. The leaders of 14 of them are specialists from Gdańsk University of Technology:
