Results of the 2nd edition of the Polonium International Doctoral Fellowships

Based on the ranking list of evaluated applications presented by the Evaluation Committee, the Rector of the Gdańsk University of Technology accepted 28 out of 46 applications for POLONIUM scholarships submitted by PhD students.  

The scholarships were granted in the amount of PLN 5,000 (gross) per month for 12 months, i.e. from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022. These scholarships are taxed. According to the regulations Scholarship disbursement can only start after concluding the competition and obtaining the Ph.D. student status, i.e.

Based on the ranking list of evaluated applications presented by the Evaluation Committee, the Rector of the Gdańsk University of Technology accepted 32 out of 55 applications for FRANCIUM scholarships submitted by PhD students.

The scholarships were granted in the amount of PLN 2,000 per month for 12 months, i.e. from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022. The scholarships are exempt from personal income tax. According to the regulations of the program The scholarship is awarded for a period of 12 months - for a given academic year. If the competition is announced during the academic year, the scholarship is paid with compensation from October of that academic year.

Fahrenheit Universities representatives took part in the Expo 2020 fair in Dubai. Gdańsk University of Technology was represented by Anna Modrzejewska, Head of the International Relations Office, and Monika Czerepak, Deputy head of IRO. 

The Polish pavilion in Dubai was visited by representatives of numerous national academic centers, including the three largest universities in Pomerania. One of the highlights of the event was Poland the Heart of Europe exhibition showing the history and achievements of Polish medicine.

Scholarships for international students - open call

Newly admitted international students who started their studies at Gdańsk Tech in the summer semester may apply for scholarships. The best will receive annual scholarships in the amount of PLN 1,250.00 per month. Applications can be submitted until Wednesday, March 16th.

Recruitment for scholarships for new foreign students admitted to second-cycle studies at the Gdańsk University of Technology has started, on a fee-based basis, in accordance with the appendix to the Circular Letter of the Rector of Gdańsk Tech No. 63/3030 of December 10, 2020.

Meeting of university representatives with students from Ukraine

Meeting
Vice-rectors, employees of the International Relations Office and the chairman of the Student Self-government of Gdańsk University of Technology met with a group of several dozen Gdańsk Tech students from Ukraine. During the meeting, the students were assured of the support of the entire academic community in connection with the war in their country, and informed about the possibilities of obtaining help.  

The meeting was attended by prof. Janusz Nieznański, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Innovation, prof. Marek Dzida, vice-rector for education, Anna Modrzejewska, head of International Relations Office, Julia Bobrowska from International Relations Office, who looks after students from abroad, and Jakub Persjanow, chairman of the Gdańsk Tech Student Government.

A new specialization in offshore studies at GdańskTech in cooperation with PGE

Design and construction of marine power systems is a new specialization in the field of ocean engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology. Its main partner is PGE, which is implementing the project to build the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm, the largest offshore wind farm in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea.  

– One of the pillars of cooperation between business and science is setting new directions in education. In order to build the domestic offshore wind energy market, it is necessary to educate future experts. That is why we have started cooperation with Polish scientists and lecturers who will manage a new specialization at master's studies at Gdańsk University of Technology – said Wojciech Dąbrowski, president of the management board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

Refugees from Ukraine accommodated in the dormitory of Gdańsk University of Technology

More than 120 people escaping the war zone in Ukraine found refuge in the dormitory of Gdańsk University of Technology in Brzeźno, a district of Gdańsk. The building was comprehensively prepared for accommodation by employees and students of the university, and the transport from Przemyśl was provided by the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

On Sunday evening, a special train from Przemyśl arrived in Gdynia, on which 252 refugees traveled from various regions of Ukraine: including Kiev, Odessa or Kharkiv, i.e. cities most affected by war. About half of the train passengers, mainly women and children, were then transported by buses to the Student House No. 11 of Gdańsk University of Technology in Gdańsk Brzeźno.
