Calls announcements for IDUB programs in 2021

Programs IDUB
Programs for scientists of Gdańsk University of Technology are part of the university's implementation of the tasks resulting from the ‘Excellence Initiative - Research University’ program. They support, among others, scientists obtaining prestigious international grants, they enable co-financing of publishing activities or financing the costs of scientific research and the development of young scientists in areas compatible with the activities of the Gdańsk Tech priority research area centers.

First scholarships in the Radon programme awarded

The funds awarded under the first edition of the programme constitute scholarships for particularly gifted students engaging in the university's research activities.  

Based on the ranking list of assessed applications presented by the Evaluation Committee, the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology awarded 13 RADON scholarships to students who obtained a minimum of 175 points.

The scholarships were awarded in the amount of PLN 1 000 per month for a period of 12 months, i.e. from 1 October 2020 to 30 September 2021.

Recruitment in the Palladium Supporting New R&D Services program

Palladium
The Palladium Supporting New R&D Services program is an element of the tasks of the IDUB program in the scope of increasing the transfer of knowledge and technology.

Budget and financing conditions

Co-financing in the programme may amount to between PLN 10 000 and 150 000 PLN gross for a maximum of 12 months.

The entities eligible to apply for funding are departments and institutes as well as consortia consisting of departments, institutes and other organizational units of Gdańsk University of Technology.

An organizational unit may participate in only one application in a given call.

The Palladium Supporting New R&D Services programme is an element of the tasks of the EIRU programme in the scope of increasing the transfer of knowledge and technology.

  • Co-financing in the programme may amount to between PLN 10 000 and 150 000 PLN gross for a maximum of 12 months.
  • The entities eligible to apply for funding are departments and institutes as well as consortia consisting of departments, institutes and other organizational units of Gdańsk University of Technology.
  • An organizational unit may participate in only one application in a given call.

Mateusz Daśko, Ph.D. Eng. is a laureate of the prestigious Maria Skłodowska-Curie scholarship

Daśko
Mateusz Daśko, Ph.D. Eng. from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, won the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions competition and received a prestigious scholarship. As a result, for two years he will conduct research on the synthesis of new chemical compounds that may help in the selective degradation of proteins in cells and contribute to the creation of new drugs, including anti-cancer ones.

The project funded under the Horizon 2020 programme, entitled ‘Design, synthesis and biological evaluation of PROteolysis-TArgeting Chimeric (PROTAC) molecules as anticancer agents’ will be carried out as a 2-year stay at the CEU San Pablo University in Madrid.

E-learning and distance teaching - how to teach effectively? Over 225 000 euro for the E-TECH project

Due to the pandemic and the social distance it forced, academics all over the world faced a sudden need to change their current teaching methods. For this reason, scientists from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, in cooperation with the Center for Modern Education at GUT, decided to develop comprehensive materials that will help teachers all over Europe face this serious challenge.

The original project ‘Comprehensive project for distance teaching skills and multimedia resources for technical universities in Europe’ in short E-TECH was appreciated and co-financed by a grant in the Erasmus + competition Strategic partnerships for digital education in the higher education sector.

Awards for The best student projects related to artificial intelligence

The winners
The mobile application for imaging and classification of skin lesions turned out to be the best group project implemented during the second-cycle studies at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of Gdańsk University of Technology. Other student projects in the field of artificial intelligence were also awarded. Presentation of the projects and the awarding of awards took place at the beginning of the year at the second-cycle studies at this faculty. A new subject was also inaugurated - a research project.

– Looking at your commitment, it is obvious that our students are passionate about carrying out innovative work, which is important for our university as a research university - said prof. Jacek Stefański, dean of the FETI during the awarding of prizes to authors of the best group projects.

Group projects are a subject that is supposed to teach students to co-operate while solving a specific problem. It has been implemented for 16 years as part of the curricula of all second-cycle studies at FETI.
