Argentum Copernicium
Grants were awarded in a continuous call for: an outstanding research project on the theory of microwave technology in the ARGENTUM program and for the preparation of an innovative international project in the area of biomaterials for ERC Starting Grants in the COPERNICIUM program

Polish Hercules Award for Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of GUT

Polish Hercules Award
Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, was awarded in the Builder Awards 2020 competition - Polish Hercules. The award of the editors of the ‘Builder’ monthly is awarded to people who have had an impact on the development of Polish construction.

In the 17th edition of the Builder Award 2020, prof. Krzysztof Wilde received the Polish Hercules award in recognition of his outstanding research, educational and expert activities in the field of civil engineering and for many years of commitment to the development of modern construction in Poland.

Almost PLN 1 million for mentors and for the development of student research clubs

Plutonium and Technetium
In the first recruitment to the two programs Plutonium and Technetium, implemented as part of the tasks of the EIRU program, almost one million zlotys will be allocated to supporting the activity of mentors caring for particularly gifted students and co-financing research conducted by scientific student associations.

The Technetium program supports the activity of mentors - academic teachers - caring for especially gifted students who are involved in research activities in PRA Centers. On the other hand, the aim of the Plutonium is to support the activities of student research clubs, which constitute a natural environment for the selection of leaders of research groups, organizational leaders and leaders initiating new research areas.

The awarded funds will support the activities of student research clubs, which provide a natural environment for the emergence of leaders of research clubs, organizational leaders and leaders initiating new areas of research.

In the completed call for proposals, 14 applications were submitted to the program, of which 6 received funding:

BioTechMed Center

1. Biochemically modified fiber optic sensors for the detection of protein in artificial urine

Project leader: PhD, Eng. Daria Majchrowicz (FETI), GUT BioPhoton Student Research Club Granted funds: PLN 134,400

2. Fluorescent resonance imaging system

Almost PLN 300 000 was awarded in the first edition of the Technetium program

Technetium
The obtained funds will make it possible to support the activity of mentors - academic teachers - caring for particularly gifted students, who are involved in research activities in PRA Centers.

In the completed call for proposals, 16 applications were submitted to the program, of which 11 received funding:

1. Protected areas - are they really? Study of the catchment area of rivers and watercourses in the area of the Coastal Landscape Park

On 10 February 2021, the results of the XXIV edition of the Lucjan Hofman Master's Thesis Competition and in the XVII edition of the Witold Andruszkiewicz Bachelor's Thesis Competition for the year 2020, organized by the Polish Economic Society (PTE), Gdańsk branch, were announced.

On Thursday, 18 February 2021, at the campus of Gdańsk University of Technology, the ceremony of signing and laying the foundation act for the construction of the STOS GUT Competence Center took place. Works on the construction of a state-of-the-art IT center are progressing according to schedule, and the investment is to be ready by the middle of next year.

The signing and laying of the foundation act is one of the most important elements of each construction investment, hence the ceremony at the construction site of the STOS GUT Competence Center (Smart and Transdisciplinary knOwledge Services) at Traugutta Street in Gdańsk was attended by representatives of the government, local authorities and the university management. Among the guests there were: Pomeranian Voivode Dariusz Drelich, Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodship Mieczysław Struk and Deputy Mayor of Gdańsk Alan Aleksandrowicz.

 Justyna Signerska-Rynkowska, Ph.D. Eng. from the Division of Differential Equations and Applications of Mathematics conducts research in mathematical neurobiology.
