Turkish Ambassador at Gdańsk University of Technology

HE Rauf Alp Denktas, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Poland, met with the authorities of the university to discuss current and future cooperation between Turkish universities and Gdańsk University of Technology - especially in the areas of education, digital technologies, shipbuilding and construction.

The visit of Ambassador Rauf Alp Denktas to Gdańsk Tech took place on 6 December 2023. The delegation led by the Ambassador included: Rahime İğdeci Hosny, First Secretary at Turkish Embassy, Nevra Genç, Commercial Counselor, with her deputy, Betül Buke Karaçin. The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology and Prof. Janusz Nieznański, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Innovation.

Erasmus Days
From 27 November to 2 December, Gdańsk University of Technology hosted another edition of Erasmus Days, organized by the International Relations Office, faculty coordinators of Erasmus+ and Erasmus Student Network.

Every year, around 25 November, the name day of Erasmus from Rotterdam – the patron of the Erasmus+ program, Gdańsk University of Technology organizes the Erasmus Days. The main aim of the event is to encourage employees, doctoral students, and students to join and benefit from opportunities offered by the program and go abroad for training, lectures, studies and internships.

Gdańsk Tech is the greenest Polish university for the second time, according to the GreenMetric ranking

Green metric
For the second time, Gdańsk University of Technology is among the best universities in the world in terms of sustainable development and environmental protection. In the UI GreenMetric 2023 ranking, it took 1st place in Poland and 197th in the world, obtaining over 82% of points.

The UI GreenMetric ranking examines universities' involvement in issues related to the natural environment (including infrastructure, transport, water and electricity consumption, waste management, and care for the climate and the environment). Also the richness of the educational offer and research activities undertaken in the area of sustainable development are an important issue for the organizer.

St. Nicholas’ Day in the Eco-trees forest. Great fun and lots of creative ideas

Eco trees
Metal angles, computer mice, fragments of sails, wires, cables and light bulbs, jars and paper rolls, cardboard boxes, old floppy disks and keyboards, and lots of other materials found in the nooks and crannies of laboratories and polytechnic halls - everything was useful in the construction of Eco-trees. 27 creative teams created 27 extraordinary projects that deserve admiration for their idea and execution.

On 6 December, from 9:00 a.m., in the Hevelius’ Courtyard construction and decoration works were underway. Constructions were welded, hot-glued, cut out and carved. More than two hundred participants let their imagination run wild, resulting in a unique Eco-trees forest.

The 13th Seminar of Advanced Materials Center

13. seminar of AMC

The thirteenth seminar of the Advanced Materials Center will be held on December 20th at 2:00 pm in Auditorium 1L of WETI B (Building 42). Prof. Federico Smeacetto, Department of Applied Science and Technology, Politecnico di Torino, Italy will give a lecture entitled "Ceramic materials for energy conversion: from joining and integration challenges to recycling strategies". After the seminar pizza will be served.
