Prof. Marian Cichy, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology in 1978-1981 is dead

At the age of 92 passed away prof. Marian Cichy, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology in 1978-1981, Honorary Professor Emeritus of the university, vice-rector in 1972-1978, specialist in the field of machine construction and operation.

Prof. Marian Cichy was born on 9 January 1931 in Warsaw. He completed his higher education in 1955 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Gdańsk University of Technology, obtaining a master's degree in mechanical engineering. In the same year he started working at the university. He obtained his doctorate seven years later, in 1962, for his thesis "Vacuum regulation of the mixture composition in engines with gasoline injection”.

Decisions on scholarships in the winter semester 2023/2024

Today, the scholarship results were published on the MojaPG portal, containing information on whether the scholarship was awarded, in what amount and for what period. This should be treated as information, not a decision!

In order for the scholarship to be paid, the student must collect a paper or electronic decision (depending on the chosen method of submitting the application).
- electronic decisions will be systematically sent from Thursday – December 7 to ePUAP mailboxes from which applications were sent to the Committee
- paper decisions can be collected in person at the office of the Scholarship Committee on Thursday – December 7 and Friday – December 8 (9:00-15:00).

On 28 November, Rector Krzysztof Wilde met with the Second Secretary of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Warsaw, Abdulla Almeraikhim at Gdańsk University of Technology. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Janusz Nieznański, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Innovation, and Aleksandra Harasiuk, CEO of the Dubai-Pomeranian Social and Cultural Association.

During the meeting, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde presented the main achievements of Gdańsk Tech and the activities aimed at increasing the international position of the university, such as implementation of the Excellence Initiative - Research University project, joining the ENHANCE Alliance and co-creation of the Fahrenheit Union of Universities.

During the gala accompanying the LUMEN 2023 conference, prof. Dariusz Mikielewicz, Vice-Rector for Organization and Development, received the award for Gdańsk University of Technology's result in the international THE WUR (World University Rankings) ranking.

As many as 215 people from 26 teams will create unique Eco-trees on 6 December, from which we will choose the most beautiful and original ones in a vote. There will be gingerbread cookies, warming drinks and competitions with prizes for those willing to celebrate St. Nicholas’ Day together.

The best of the best in the region. Gdańsk Tech with the Pomeranian Eagle award

The gala of the Pomeranian business plebiscite "Orzeł Pomorski" is over. This year's winners included Gdańsk University of Technology, which received an award for consistent implementation of its development strategy as a modern, European technical university and the initiator of ventures and projects appreciated both in Poland and around the world. The statuette was received by the university's rector, prof. Krzysztof Wilde.

The event took place on Friday, 24 November at Dwór Artusa in Gdańsk. The plebiscite is organized by the editorial office of Magazyn Pomorski, under the patronage of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
