Open recruitment for the kindergarten of Gdańsk University of Technology

In September, a new kindergarten at Gdańsk University of Technology began operating. Employees and students of the Medical University of Gdańsk and the University of Gdańsk can still enroll their children on preferential terms.

The Gdańsk Tech MegaMocni (Megamind) facility was established for the children of employees, PhD students and students of Gdańsk University of Technology, but by decision of the university's Rector, prof. Krzysztof Wilde, this year the youngest can be registered by all members of the academic community of Fahrenheit Universities, including MUG and UG.

National Education Day – best wishes for the Gdańsk Tech community

National Education Day – a day devoted to all employees in the field of education - is celebrated on the anniversary of the establishment of the National Education Commission, the first ministry of education in Europe. This year marks the 250th anniversary of this event.

On this occasion, we would like to express our thanks and appreciation to all academic teachers and employees of Gdańsk University of Technology who support the educational process at our University for their daily effort and we wish you all further teaching and scientific successes and undying enthusiasm in sharing knowledge. We also wish students and doctoral students, because this is a special day for them as well, the curiosity to explore the world, develop their scientific passions, and strengthen academic bonds and traditions.

Open day of the Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology (live stream)

Is a PhD worth it? What are the requirements to become a PhD student? You will be able to get answers to these and many more questions on 13 October during the PhD Open - the open day of the Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology. The program of the event includes: information panel for candidates and presentation of disciplines. Doctoral students from all over the country will also meet at Gdańsk Tech on the same day. Such events as matriculation ceremony and lectures on grants, scholarships and other opportunities for young scientists are also planned.

The “PhD Open” day of the Doctoral School will be held at Gdańsk University of Technology on 13 October. The event, organized by the Gdańsk Tech Doctoral Students' Self-Government, is divided into two parts. One is addressed to candidates for doctoral school, the other to doctoral students.

Study visit of Gdańsk University of Technology lecturers to ETH Zurich

Discussions on innovative teaching with Dr. Lukas Fässler and Dr. Markus Dahinden
From 11 to 16 September 2023, five academic lecturers from three faculties of the Gdańsk University of Technology visited ETH Zurich, one of the world's most renowned technical universities and a partner in the ENHANCE Alliance.

The purpose of the visit was to deepen knowledge of teaching and learning using the Project-Based Learning (PBL) method. With the support of the Rector of ETH Zurich, Prof. Günther Dissertori, the delegation had the opportunity to participate in ETH Week, an innovative PBL education program, and to exchange ideas with faculty members. The trip was attended by Dr. Małgorzata Kostrzewska and Dr. Roman Ruczyński from the Faculty of Architecture, Dr. Bartłomiej Cieślik from the Faculty of Chemistry, and Dr. Aneta Sobiechowska-Ziegert and Dr.

– We can be different and have the right to be so. We can take sides in disputes and conflicts. However, regardless of our views and values, we should be honest and solidary, for the greater good and for the sake of our common future - said Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech, opening the ceremony inaugurating the new academic year at Gdańsk University of Technology.

In his speech, Rector Krzysztof Wilde summarized the past academic year, discussing the position of Gdańsk University of Technology in international and national rankings, initiatives implemented as part of the activities of Fahrenheit Universities, the development of cooperation between the university and secondary schools in Pomerania, as well as new Gdańsk Tech investments. He also emphasized how important an event the university's accession to the ENHANCE consortium of European technical universities was.

Gdansk Tech's promotion in the 20th anniversary edition of THE World University Rankings

Gdańsk University of Technology ranked in the group 1001-1200 in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2024, rising from 1201-1500. Our university recorded the highest year-over-year increase of its total score result in the history of this ranking.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 covered 1,904 universities from 108 countries. A further 769 universities were not ranked but were given 'reporter' status, meaning that they provided data but did not meet the ranking's eligibility criteria.

This year's ranking is based on the new WUR 3.0 methodology, which includes 18 carefully calibrated indicators grouped into five areas:
