In Poland, two species of oaks occur naturally: the sessile oak (Quercus petraea) and the pedunculate oak (Quercus robur). The sessile oak prefers poorer, drier, and warmer habitats. It also blooms about two weeks later than its pedunculate relative.
Although the sweet cherry is a fruit tree, it also thrives in forest environments. It can grow up to 30 meters in height and live for around 120 years. Its trunk is straight, and the branches grow at a sharp angle, forming a loose, oval-shaped crown.
The western red cedar (Thuja plicata) is a non-native species whose natural range is the western coast of North America.
It belongs to the cypress family and is a coniferous tree. In its natural environment, it can reach heights of 60–65 meters. It produces light, pale wood with a reddish hue. In Poland, it is most often planted as an ornamental tree.
The Turkish hazel naturally occurs in southeastern Europe, Turkey, and the Caucasus. A distinctive feature of this species is its dense, regularly conical crown. Thanks to its numerous, strongly branched shoots, the tree appears carefully shaped even from a distance. The trunks are straight, covered with gray, fissured bark, and the trees reach a height of 20–25 meters.
The natural range of the red oak covers the eastern part of North America—from southeastern Canada to the eastern United States. It was introduced to Europe in the 17th century as a valued ornamental tree, and over time it also began to be used in forestry.
The beech is one of the most magnificent deciduous trees found in Polish forests. In autumn, beech forests captivate with a rich palette of colors as the leaves turn vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red. In spring, newly unfolded, oval-shaped leaves are bright green on the upper surface and lighter underneath; initially softly hairy, they gradually become smooth and shiny.
Plane trees are impressive trees, distinguished by their wide-spreading crowns, characteristic mottled bark, and interesting fruits.

The horse chestnut is not a native species. It is planted in forests only occasionally, mainly for its fruits, which serve as a supplementary food source for deer and other ungulates. However, it is widely used in parks, avenues, and along streets. The tree can reach impressive dimensions—up to 25 m in height and 2 m in trunk circumference.
The elm, also known as limak, occurs mainly in riparian forests and moist mixed woodlands. It grows to a height of about 40 meters. Its trunk widens noticeably at the base and is often covered with short, regrowing shoots. The bark is fissured and ranges in shades of gray and brown.
