First place in the IMFW 2026 Filter Design Competition in Hong Kong – an inspiring success for doctoral students

A team of PhD students from the Department of Microwave and Antenna Engineering achieved a spectacular success during the international IEEE International Microwave Filter Workshop (IMFW 2026), held on 7–9 February 2026 in Hong Kong, winning first place in the prestigious IMFW 2026 Filter Design Competition.

The winning project was developed by Michał Baranowski, MSc Eng, and Maciej Jasiński, MSc Eng. Their solution proved to be the best among teams from around the world, including strong representatives from China and Switzerland.

We are launching the first-ever joint Call for ENHANCE Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) for the 2026/27 academic year. This marks an important step for our Alliance and reflects our members’ shared commitment to streamlining how we design and deliver innovative learning opportunities—together shaping the “next normal” of STEM education in Europe and beyond. The call is supported by Erasmus+, with Movetia Switzerland funding programmes coordinated by ETH Zurich.

Gdańsk Tech distinguished with the Crystal Sails Award

During the 17th Pomeranian Sailing Gala, the Gdańsk University of Technology was honoured with the ‘Friend of Pomeranian Sailing’ title. The Crystal Sails Award statuette was received on behalf of the academic community by Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of the Gdańsk University of Technology. This award is a token of appreciation for the close cooperation between the university and the Pomeranian Sailing Association, as well as for the support that Gdańsk Tech provides to Pomeranian sailors.

The gala, traditionally organised by the Pomeranian Sailing Association, brought together the most important figures in the region's sailing world. Among the winners was the Gdańsk University of Technology, which has been actively involved in the development of maritime culture for years, combining science with sport and recreation, and developing a sailing marina in Sobieszewo. Ventus in Vela Educationis for Prof. Joanna Mytnik, Director of the Centre for Innovative Education

Prof. Joanna Mytnik, Director of the Centre for Innovative Education at the Gdańsk University of Technology, was honoured with the Ventus in Vela Educationis award. This is a special award granted by the ‘Pomeranian Employers’ organisation for supporting education in all of its types and at all levels. The award was presented during the annual Pomeranian Employers' Gala.

The Ventus in Vela Educationis prize has been awarded for two years.

Official signing of a cooperation agreement between Gdańsk University of Technology, Elac Sonar and Enamor

On February 10, 2026 a ceremonial signing of a cooperation agreement between Gdańsk University of Technology (GdanskTech), Elac Sonar, and Enamor took place at the Main Building of our University.

The agreement focuses on joint research and development activities in the field of advanced sonar systems, crucial for maritime security and defence.

The agreement was signed by:

Learn everything about taxes in Poland (training)

The International Relations Office encourages foreign employees, PhD students, and international students to participate in a free training session on the tax system in Poland.

Knowledge of tax law—obligations, document templates, deadlines—is important not only for Polish citizens but also for foreign employees, PhD students, and students. Especially at this time of year, with the deadline for tax returns coming up, knowing how to handle taxes is really helpful.
