Join us for the opening of the academic year in Gdańsk!

Long Live Science
On 30th September, on the initiative of the Fahrenheit Union of Universities, Pomeranian higher education institutions and local government will open the academic year 2023/2024. It is a unique event on the national scale, emphasizing the role of the academic community in the life of the city.

A colorful procession of the academic community will inaugurate the academic year in Gdańsk for the second time. Pomeranian universities, including Gdańsk University of Technology, will meet on the last Saturday of September at 10:00 a.m. at the Golden Gate. The academics will march along the Royal Route to the Artus Court, where the official part of the ceremony will take place. We will hear speeches from local government representatives, university authorities and students.

Yuxin Lu from the Faculty of Management and Economics is the third graduate to complete the Doctoral School of Gdańsk University of Technology in the new doctoral education system. He conducts his research in the field of economics and finance, focusing primarily on Chinese exports and imports of goods.

His doctoral thesis entitled "Essays on China's international trade - focus on One-Belt One-Road initiative" was written under the supervision of Joanna Wolszczak-Derlacz, PhD, DSc, professor at Gdańsk Tech. The reviewers were prof. Filippa Reganati from the University of Roma Sapienza, Stanisław Umiński, PhD, DSc, from the University of Gdańsk and prof. Jan Jakub Michałek from the University of Warsaw.

At the beginning of each academic semester, the International Relations Office of Gdańsk Tech organizes two events for newly admitted international students: Student Registration and Welcome Meeting.

Both events are important not only because new international students can complete the registration process and obtain important information regarding formalities related to their stay in Poland. Newcomers can also get to know their fellow students with whom they will be studying for the next few years.

A machine is any machinery and technical equipment, tools and installations used during work, as well as equipment for temporary work at height, in particular ladders and scaffolding.

Using a machine means performing any activities related to the machine, in particular starting or stopping it, using it, transporting, repairing, modernizing, modifying, maintaining and operating it, including cleaning.

Work at height is work performed on a surface at a height of at least 1.0 m above the floor or ground level.

Work at height does not include work on the surface, regardless of the height at which it is located, if the surface:

1. is covered on all sides to a height of at least 1.5 m with solid walls or walls with glazed windows

Chemical hazardous and harmful factors occurring in the work process are divided in respect to:

• type of action on the body: toxic, irritating, sensitizing, carcinogenic, mutagenic, harmful to reproductive functions, fertility in adult males and females.

• way of absorption into the body through: respiratory tract, skin and mucous membranes, digestive tract.
