Justyna Szostak, PhD Eng, from the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics, chair of the Internationalization Committee and plenipotentiary of the dean for internationalization at the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics, was elected the co-chair of the work group named „Task Force Learning&Teachning” of CESAER – an organization uniting leading technology schools in Europe.

CESAER  organization was founded in 1990. Currently, it unites 58 leading European universities from 26 countries. CESAER safeguards high level of research and education, and aims at developing cooperation with the industry. The members of CESAER undertake integrated activities for the benefit of engineering education, responding to the global market demands.

Researchers from Gdańsk Tech creating a germicidal chamber

Researchers from the Institute of Energy at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology are building a germicidal chamber under a project funded by the National Science Center.  Photothermal ablation of gold particles enabling elimination of bacteria and viruses.

Project under the name: „Optimization of gold nanostructure shape and size in the germicidal chamber, using the process of photothermal ablation” managed by Paweł Ziółkowski, PhD Eng., will be executed in consortium with Medical University of Gdańsk. The project obtained funding amounting to PLN 911 645 (PLN 901 885 for Gdańsk Tech).

More candidates than last year. Basic admission has ended

5020 places in 37 fields of study and almost 26 thousand young people willing to study at Gdańsk University of Technology. On 27 July the final lists of people admitted to first-cycle studies in full-time and part-time modes were published.

There were no surprises among this year's most popular fields - the top five, just like for several years, include economy and spatial management, as well as green technologies, energy, and yacht design and construction. A dozen or so people applied for one place in these fields of study.

In turn, the largest number of applications, as in the previous year, was recorded in the field of computer science (1700 applicants) and in construction (1500 applications).

Prof. Janusz Rachoń, an honorary member of Gdańsk Scientific Society

Gdańsk Scientific Society celebrates its centenary this year. During a formal session, Prof. Janusz Rachoń was granted the title of Honorary Member of the Society. The eulogy for the Professor was given by Prof. Ryszard Jan Katulski, the head of the Division IV – Engineering Sciences.

Prof. Janusz Rachoń graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry at Gdańsk University of Technology in 1969. He also obtained a doctoral title and a title of a doctor of science and was awarded a professor title by president Lech Wałęsa.

Orientation Meetings for newcomers

Information Meeting for 1-st year PhD Students with the school authorities will be held at the beginning of the academic year. Our International Relations Office will also organise Welcome Meeting for all international newcomers, which will be followed by webinars or onsite meeting devoted to issues like legalisation of stay, healthcare system in Poland, etc. Every PhD student from abroad is strongly invited to join these events.

Gdańsk Tech in the Shanghai ranking of academic subjects for the year 2022

In this year’s edition of the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), Gdańsk University of Technology was listed in two engineering disciplines: civil engineering and electrical & electronic engineering.

Gdańsk University of Technology was the only University among the Polish participants that was classified within the range of 201-300 in the global ranking for civil engineering discipline. Electrical & electronic engineering were evaluated within the range of 401-500, together with Warsaw University of Technology.
