Orientation Meetings for newcomers
Information Meeting for 1-st year PhD Students with the school authorities will be held at the beginning of the academic year. Our International Relations Office will also organise Welcome Meeting for all international newcomers, which will be followed by webinars or onsite meeting devoted to issues like legalisation of stay, healthcare system in Poland, etc. Every PhD student from abroad is strongly invited to join these events.
Gdańsk Tech in the Shanghai ranking of academic subjects for the year 2022
In this year’s edition of the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), Gdańsk University of Technology was listed in two engineering disciplines: civil engineering and electrical & electronic engineering.
Gdańsk University of Technology was the only University among the Polish participants that was classified within the range of 201-300 in the global ranking for civil engineering discipline. Electrical & electronic engineering were evaluated within the range of 401-500, together with Warsaw University of Technology.

As a broad term which encourages accessibility, transparency and reproducibility of research and supporting information. Open research includes the practices of sharing data, code, preprints, methods, or working in new ways such as Registered Reports.
Publishing your research open access
Publishing is an integral element of the researcher process with most academics required to publish at least once in their professional career. Researchers must also navigate a publishing landscape that is constantly evolving. This session is designed for early career researchers who have little to no publishing experience. It will provide a basic overview of the current state of academic publishing to enable a better understanding of the process.

Digital twin – assistant to the pregnant woman
Researchers from Gdańsk University of Technology plan to develop an innovative assistance system for pregnant women, which uses artificial intelligence. This will allow to anticipate risks related to pregnancy complications before the symptoms occur. The research team is planning to develop i.a. „a digital twin”, which will support monitoring the state of the patient at home and at a medical facility. Clinical trials will be conducted by the specialists from Gameta clinic in Gdynia.
As part of the project, the researchers will develop an IT platform named WODIA. It is a set of ICT advanced tools, algorithms and services (a mobile application is also planned), that allows to collect and integrate data from the clinic and individual measurements taken by the pregnant woman (telehealth technology). The platform will collect data such as the health history, vital signs, ultrasound scan, uterine artery blood flow, and a number of biomarkers.
Hydraulic-mechanical automatic transmission for agricultural vehicles
Scientists from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology of Gdańsk University of Technology have designed a hydraulic-mechanical automatic transmission for agricultural vehicles and working machines. It will allow for a smooth change of gear at low speed and a step change of gear in the range of high speeds.
The gearbox was designed under the Lider VIII program. The project was financed by the National Center for Research and Development. The co-financing amount was PLN 1 197 500.
