Parking spaces for students

Motorized students have at their disposal two parkings located at Traugutta street, the first directly behind the edifice of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, and the second one between the buildings of the Technical Service Center and the LINTE^2 Laboratory. The places are secured with barriers, and the parking spaces can only be used by students whose IDs are activated in the system serving the barriers. The number of places is limited.

Kickoff Meeting of the International Scientific Effectiveness Board of IDUB

Rectors
The International Scientific Effectiveness Board (ISEB) held their online kickoff meeting on May 6, 2021. The board is an advisory and monitoring body defined in the implementation plan of the Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) project.

The plan provides that the board members should be “scientists with experience in processes of reorganizing and managing the university”. The ISEB members appointed by the Rector undoubtedly satisfy this provision by a wide margin.

Duties

Duties of the Rector’s Office:

- Compiling Rector’s regulations, proxy statements and circular letters.

- Secretarial and organisational service for the Senate meetings and Rector’s Collegium:

     a)    sending notifications together with materials for the Senate meetings
     b)    content-related preparation and taking minutes during the Senate and Rector’s Collegium meetings
     c)    keeping records of the resolutions of the Senate

PhD Tomasz Majchrzak
What substances are produced at each stage of heating cooking oil? What can we learn by analyzing the chemical composition of oil vapors and what surprises are hidden in volatile chemical compounds? In his research work PhD, Eng. Tomasz Majchrzak decomposes the process of frying cooking oils.

PhD, Eng. Tomasz Majchrzak is the winner of the Gdańsk Scientific Society's 2020 award for young scientists, and one of the three laureates of the Faculty of Chemistry in the Competition of the Committee of Analytical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Baltic Sea Region Universities’ Seminar on Sustainable Development

Baltic Sea
Prof. Dariusz Mikielewicz, vice-rector for organization and development of Gdańsk University of Technology participated in the seminar "UN Sustainable Development Goals in Universities", during which issues related to the goals of sustainable development were discussed. The virtual meeting, organized by the Baltic Sea Region University Network (BSRUN), was attended by members of the network of the universities from the Baltic Sea Region. Gdańsk University of Technology actively participates in the work of this network and plans to deepen this cooperation.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were developed and adopted by all UN member states in 2015 as a universal call for action to eradicate poverty and hunger, comprehensively protect our planet's environment and climate, and ensure peace and human well-being by 2030. Meeting these goals will be even more challenging in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is affecting global economies and industry.

Call for applications under Individual Research Studies and the RADIUM program

Radium
Individual research studies (IRS) make it possible to create individual learning paths for the most talented students of second-cycle (MSc) studies related to their research as part of research projects. Under the RADIUM Program, it is possible to obtain a university grant to finance the costs of research conducted by second-cycle MSc) students as part of Individual Research Studies.  

IRS and the RADIUM program are part of the implementation of EIRU tasks in the field of improving the quality of education of students and doctoral students, in particular in fields and disciplines related to priority research areas of the university, Action III.1. (Modification of the education system at the first and second cycle studies).

The implementation of IRS and the RADIUM program is planned from the academic year 2021/2022.
