Exciting countdown. The supercomputer of Gdańsk Tech to be launched soon

Gdańsk Tech STOS CC
It will be one of the most modern IT centers in this part of Europe. Gdańsk University of Technology is finishing the implementation of the STOS Competence Center project, which will include one of the fastest supercomputers in Europe today. The opening of the complex will take place in the first quarter of next year.

The facility was built on the campus of Gdańsk University of Technology, specifically on the slope of Góra Szubieniczna (the Gallows Hill) in Gdańsk Wrzeszcz - at Traugutta Street. It contains the so-called bunker, i.e. a place with server rooms and one of the fastest supercomputers in Europe, enabling the collection, processing and archiving of huge data sets, as well as the performance of complex simulations for scientific research.

Zuzanna Klawikowska, a graduate of the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering, and currently a PhD student, received the Dean Ludwik Referowski’s award. This award, in the amount of PLN 50,000, is granted to outstanding graduates of the faculty for their scientific or academic achievements and social activity.  

Zuzanna Klawikowska received the highest marks for her master's thesis, and can also boast of the best academic results among the students of the faculty. The award is the culmination of five years of work in first and second cycle studies, as well as in the field of social activity.

Female students from Ukraine with scholarships from the "New Technologies for Women – Ukraine" program

The Perspektywy Education Foundation and Intel company, as part of cooperation to increase the participation of women in the new technologies industry, have launched the scholarship program "New Technologies for Women - Ukraine". The winners of the program were four students of Gdańsk University of Technology from Ukraine.

The "New Technologies for Women - Ukraine" scholarship program was addressed to Ukrainian female students, doctoral students and graduates of secondary schools (starting technical studies in autumn 2022) studying in Poland, who are in a difficult material / life situation due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The winners of the program were four students of Gdańsk University of Technology:

Success in GreenMetrics World University Ranking

Once again, the efforts of our University in implementing sustainable development activities have been recognized internationally!

In the latest edition of the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, Gdansk Tech was ranked 1st among Polish universities. Globally, PG was ranked 137th out of 1050 universities from 85 countries. The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings examine universities' involvement in environmental issues (including infrastructure, climate and environmental care, transportation, water and electricity consumption or waste management).

Gdańsk University of Technology takes steps to care for the health and well-being of employees

From January 2023, sports activities for employees will start at Gdańsk Tech. Classes will be held on the Gdańsk Tech campus.

Employees will have the possibility to take part in aqua aerobics, basketball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, healthy spine classes, as well as combat sports, elements of self-defense and elements of judo.

For those who feel the rhythm and those who are at the beginning of their dance path, dance classes will be held.
