[Update 01.03.2023] Results of the Francium Supporting Outstanding Doctoral Candidates

Based on the list of applications the Rector of the Gdańsk University of Technology accepted 126 out of 142 applications for FRANCIUM scholarships submitted by PhD students.  

The scholarships were granted in the amount of PLN 2 500 per month for 12 months, i.e. from October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023 (+ possible exceptions according to the regulations of the program).

At the beginning of each new academic year, Gdańsk Tech International Relations Office invites newly admitted international students (Polish and English-speaking) to participate in two important events: Registration Week and Welcome Meeting.

 
Registration Week

This is a very important event during which newly admitted international students provide recruitment documents and can obtain information on, among others, the legalization of stay in Poland.

Polish Nuclear Power Plants and FarU will educate staff for the nuclear power engineering sector

The Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk signed a cooperation agreement with Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) company (Polish Nuclear Power Plants). The main objective of the agreement signed on February 2 is the development of human resources potential for the nuclear industry as part of the project to build the first nuclear power plant in Poland. The ceremony was attended by the Pomeranian Voivode Dariusz Drelich and the Marshal of the Voivodeship Mieczysław Struk.

– Pomerania is the region where the first nuclear power plant in Poland will be built. Due to the size and importance of this strategic project, specialists from the Pomeranian region will find employment in it, both during the construction and subsequent operation of the power plant. Therefore, already at this stage of the investment project, the company is developing cooperation with key universities in Gdańsk, said Tomasz Stępień, president of Polish Nuclear Power Plants.

Semestral report for the winter semester 2022/2023 - 1-st year PhD students

Please be informed that by February 26, 2023 (Sunday) PhD students who began their training in a. y. 2022/2023 (1st-year PhD students), must complete the semestral Report on the course of research work / training at the Doctoral School referring to their 1st semester of training.

The report has been automatically assigned by the Doctoral School Office to accounts of first semester PhD students.

Training staff for the nuclear power industry – signing a letter of intent

Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdańsk Tech, together with the rectors of five technical universities, signed a letter of intent regarding the training of personnel for the nuclear power industry. The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Education and Science.

Cooperation of science and business for the development of nuclear energy in Poland

During the press conference, the Minister of Education and Science pointed out the need for cooperation between science and business, which is essential for mutual development. He emphasized that low-emission energy is one of the key challenges for the economy in Poland.

Workshops on intercultural competences - apply now

The International Relations Office invites teaching and support staff to participate in workshops on cultural differences and culture shock organized as part of the "Hej, are you OK?" project. Registration for classes will last from February 1 to February 24. The number of places is limited. 

About the workshops

Since mid-September 2022, a project entitled "Hey, are you OK?", co-financed by the "Welcome to Poland" program of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange is conducted at Gdańsk Tech. Its main goal is to support the broadly understood emotional well-being of employees and students. One of the activities within the project are workshops on cultural differences and culture shock for teaching and support staff, which are to improve communication with foreigners.

In 2022, Gdańsk University of Technology joined ENHANCE - an association of 10 European technical universities. Thanks to the presence in ENHANCE, Gdańsk Tech students have the opportunity to participate in winter and summer schools, seminars and other interesting events on various topics. The next such event will be organized by Technical University in Berlin - also ENHANCE member. This time the main topic of the meeting will be intercultural communication. Don't miss it!

"Exam Session Emergency Tips" - on the run-up to exams

The exam session at Gdańsk University of Technology begins on 28 January. There is not much time left before the exams, but every student knows that the last days before taking the exam are crucial.
