In 2024, Gdańsk University of Technology strengthened its position as one of the leading technical and research universities in Poland. During this period, as many as 112 young researchers were awarded doctoral degrees, nearly 1,300 publications appeared in prestigious academic journals, and the number of applicants for undergraduate studies increased by over 11%. The university also advanced by 100 places in the renowned Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), commonly known as the Shanghai Ranking.

Gdańsk University of Technology Continues to Gain Popularity

Compared to previous years, the number of first-cycle (bachelor’s level) applicants increased by 11.2% in 2024. This continues a positive trend—over recent years, the university has consistently increased enrollment, reflecting the growing attractiveness of Gdańsk Tech’s educational offer.

Gdańsk University of Technology in the QS World University Rankings 2026

Gdańsk University of Technology has maintained its position within the 801–850 range in the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings 2026, while also remaining the 5th highest-ranked university in Poland. Nearly 8,500 universities from around the world applied to be included in this year’s edition of the ranking, of which 1,501 institutions were ultimately selected, including 20 from Poland.

The ranking takes into account nine indicators, each assigned a different weight. Of particular importance are the opinions of academic staff and employers about the university, collected through an annual survey. These two indicators together account for as much as 45% of the total possible score. A detailed breakdown of the indicators and their respective weights is presented in the table below.

Gdańsk University of Technology Talent Scholarship Awards Announced

Winners of the Gdańsk Tech Talent Scholarship (2nd Edition)
Nearly 60 candidates from across Poland applied for the second edition of the Gdańsk Tech Talent Scholarship competition. Ultimately, the selection committee chose seven recipients who will come to Gdańsk from regions including Mazovia and Podlasie. The scholarship holders will receive admission to Gdańsk University of Technology (Gdańsk Tech) for a degree program of their choice, scientific mentorship, a monthly stipend of PLN 2,000 throughout the duration of their studies, accommodation in a student dormitory, and the option of an individually tailored academic schedule.

For the second time, Gdańsk Tech has awarded the Talent Scholarship—an honor for young, talented individuals passionate about science and distinguished by excellent academic achievements and extracurricular accomplishments, not limited to competitions or academic olympiads.

ENHANCE Teaching Innovation Grant Awarded

We are pleased to announce that Alina Guzik and Mariusz Krzyżanowski from the Faculty of Management and Economics have been awarded with funding in the ENHANCE Testbed Competition 2025 for their project SHIFT: Scenarios for HyFlex Teaching and Learning.

The project supports the development of inter-university student collaboration by promoting innovative, hybrid teaching formats in an international environment. As part of the initiative, an interactive e-book will be created, featuring practical HyFlex class scenarios designed to enable collaborative learning among students from ENHANCE Alliance partner Universities.

Developing a scientific career is a process that requires not only passion and dedication, but also proper support. Young researchers can take advantage of numerous opportunities for research funding, skill enhancement, and establishing national and international collaborations.

Gdańsk Tech Among the Top Higher Education Institutions in Poland

Gdańsk University of Technology (Gdańsk Tech) has secured 3rd place among technical universities and 5th place among all academic institutions in Poland in the Perspektywy 2025 University Ranking. This achievement reaffirms the University’s established position and serves as further evidence that choosing to study at Gdańsk Tech is a sound decision.

Gdańsk University of Technology also achieved notable success in the Study Program Ranking. The programs in Architecture, Environmental Engineering, and Chemical Technology were ranked first in the country in their respective categories. Other high-ranking programs include: Biotechnology (2nd place), Spatial Management (2nd place), Civil Engineering (3rd place), and Geodesy and Cartography (3rd place).

Gdańsk Tech Appoints New Press Spokesperson

Patryk
Patryk Rosiński – a journalist with many years of experience and a specialist in communication – has joined the team of the Promotion and Press Release Office at Gdańsk University of Technology. In recent years, he has worked to shape the public image of municipal institutions in Gdańsk. He will now be responsible for promoting the university, liaising with journalists, and preparing informational materials.

Patryk Rosiński is a Gdańsk native through and through. He grew up in a falowiec (wavy block of flats) in the Przymorze district and graduated from the Krzysztof Kolberger Secondary School No. IX. He then moved to Toruń to pursue higher education. He holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and Social Communication from Nicolaus Copernicus University.
