Open Infrastructure and Interoperability

The different areas of “open” are top of mind for many libraries. From open science to open infrastructure and open source, each area presents opportunities and challenges. How do we deliver optimal interoperability of the platforms and services that serve our libraries and their users? And can freely available and modifiable software deliver much needed flexibility in how platforms and services are deployed, managed, and extended?

A new solution for ultra-large container ships

The trawler
On the one hand ultra-large container ships have the highest individual carbon footprint, and on the other hand, they benefit from the economy of scale and transport a huge amount of goods around the world. What can be done to increase their propulsion efficiency, reduce greenhouse gases emissions and improve navigation safety?

As part of the twin-crp-pod ULCS project, scientists from the Institute of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology are working on the use of a hybrid crp-pod propulsion on ultra-large two-propeller container ships.

Additional admission for international candidates

Students seeting on the stairs
From Monday, February 7th, additional admission for international candidates for master studies in English and Polish will start. The deadline for submitting documents is Sunday, February 20th.

Candidates from outside Poland who would like to start their studies at the Gdańsk University of Technology in the summer semester (February-June) have the opportunity to submit documents as part of additional admission. The recruitment is open to all interested parties, but due to, inter alia, long waiting times for a visa in the case of candidates from certain countries, we encourage foreigners already living in Poland to participate in the recruitment process.
