Selenium-enriched broccoli sprouts. Certified reference materials in a PhD thesis

mr
Chintankumar Padariya, this year's graduate of the Doctoral School, conducts research on certified reference materials (CRMs). They are key tools in scientific research, quality control and analytical measurements. They guarantee precision and repeatability of laboratory tests, acting as reference substances with precisely defined composition. CRMs are widely used in environmental studies, food safety, pharmaceuticals and clinical diagnostics to verify methodologies, calibrate instruments and assess measurement uncertainty. Their role is crucial for ensuring standardization across industries, regulatory compliance and the development of scientific research.

Young green leaves and sprouts can be a valuable element of the human diet. One such nutrient-rich product is broccoli sprouts, which are characterized by a high content of essential elements and bioactive compounds. Microgreens not only provide essential nutrients, but are also a natural source of selenium - a key trace element with significant health benefits.

Predatory conferences

One of the examples of predatory publishing practices is the problem of predatory conferences (predatory meetings). This unethical practice involves scientific conferences organised both internationally and nationally that are characterised by a lack of a robust review process for submitted presentation proposals. These are conferences geared to maximise profit from conference fees, the organisers of which are often predatory publishers who publish articles and monographs.
