Gdańsk Tech will cooperate with the Institute of Hydro-Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences
On Tuesday, 30 November in the Senate Hall of Gdańsk University of Technology, the university authorities signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Hydro-Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Under the agreement, the university and the institute will promote each other's achievements, organize student internships and carry out joint research projects.
– Signing an agreement with IHE PAS is an important element of one of the main statutory missions of the university, that is cooperation with the socio-economic environment – said prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech. – I am convinced that our scientists, students and doctoral students will all benefit from this cooperation he added.
NCN grants for Gdańsk Tech scientists
Scientists from Gdańsk University of Technology obtained funding for the implementation of a total of 33 research projects under the MINIATURE 5, PRELUDIUM 20 and OPUS 21 competitions. The grant for Gdańsk Tech amounts to over PLN 11 million in total.

Open Education Resources: first podcast episode is live!
On the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the UNESCO OER Recommendation, members of the European Network of Open Education Librarians, Kamila Kokot-Kanikuła from the Gdańsk Tech library and Kinga Zając, prepared the first podcast episode on Open Educational Resources (OER).
Prof. Edmund Wittbrodt is the Master of the Chapter of medals of the city of Gdańsk
Prof. Edmund Wittbrodt was again appointed the Master of the Chapter of medals of the city of Gdańsk: the Medal of St. Wojciech (S. Adalbertus) and of the Duke Mściwoj II Medal (Mestwin II).
During the first meeting of the 9-person chapter of these medals, appointed for a four-year term by a resolution of the Gdańsk City Council of September 2021, prof. Edmund Wittbrodt, PhD, DSc, Eng. was elected the Master (chairman) of the Chapter.
The Medals of St. Wojciech and Mściwoj II have been awarded by the city council since 1997 for outstanding services to the city.
Executive MBA at Gdańsk Tech among the best in the Perspektywy ranking
The International program ‘MBA in Strategy, Program and Project Management’ took the seventh place in the Perspektywy ranking!
For the first time, the Executive MBA program at Gdańsk Tech took such a high position in the ranking, jumping 3 positions compared to the previous ranking carried out in 2018.
DNA encrypted in algorithms to expand cognitive abilities
They translated the most important functions of the human genetic code into the language of algorithms. We are talking about an international team of scientists led by Prof. Edward Szczerbicki from Gdańsk University of Technology and the Australian University in Newcastle. The concept of decisional DNA created by his team has been implemented in over 20 scientific and business projects around the world. It is a way to improve decision-making processes in business, power industry and medicine. This will help, inter alia, to diagnose Alzheimer's disease faster or to control the activity of sick people, but also to achieve private goals and dreams.
Strengthening human intelligence and expanding human cognitive abilities is a mission that has been carried out for 30 years by Prof. Edward Szczerbicki, a world expert in the field of knowledge engineering and artificial intelligence. The concept of decisional DNA was developed 15 years ago with a team of scientists, i.a. from the Faculty of Management and Economics of Gdańsk University of Technology and the Australian University in Newcastle.

A chance to be competitive. Second FarU debate
The second of three debates for academic communities "Why do we need the Fahrenheit Union of Universities?" took place on 18 November 2021 at the Medical University of Gdańsk. The meeting was attended by representatives of the FarU authorities, including the rectors of three member universities: prof. Marcin Gruchała, prof. Krzysztof Wilde and prof. Piotr Stepnowski (UG) and the director of the Union, prof. Adriana Zaleska-Medynska. Among the invited guests there were also Leszek Bonna, Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and PhD Jerzy Karpiński, director of the Health Department of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office. Prof. Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for Science of the MUG, Plenipotentiary of the Rector for the Union of Universities in Gdańsk also took part in it. The meeting was a continuation of the debate that took place on 4 November 2021 at Gdańsk University of Technology.
– It is impossible to carry out such a large project without the support of the entire academic community - began the Rector of the MUG, prof. Marcin Gruchała. – Our goal is to achieve federalization while maintaining the total autonomy of universities. Today we have a chance to be competitive and act together under one banner.
The call for applications for the BioLab 2022-2023 program
The call for applications for the BioLab 2022-2023 program is underway. It is the one-year intership program for students of biological sciences ( biology, biotechnology, chemistry, physic etc) in the United States.
