How to build effective and long-term cooperation between science and business and what role do Gdańsk universities play in the development of local business and the socio-economic environment - these were the main topics discussed during the webinar "Cooperation of Pomeranian universities for the development of innovation", which took place on 9 June at Gdańsk University of Technology .  

The first part of the meeting was attended by the rectors of three leading universities in the region: prof. Krzysztof Wilde (Gdańsk University of Technology), prof. Michał Markuszewski, Vice-Rector for Science (Medical University of Gdańsk) and prof. Piotr Stepnowski (University of Gdańsk). The webinar was led by Piotr Markowski, representing the Gdańsk Tech special purpose vehicle Excento.

Gdańsk Tech appears yet again in the prestigious QS World University Rankings

In this year's edition of the ranking of the best universities from around the world, Gdańsk University of Technology maintained its position in the range of 801-1000. Over 1,600 universities from all over the world were evaluated.  

This year's QS World University Rankings, presenting the best universities from around the world, covered 93 countries. 145 new participants were included in the ranking. A total of over 1,600 universities were assessed and considered for the ranking, however, only 1,300 of the best universities were finally classified according to the rules of the ranking.

Gdańsk Tech is the best among Polish universities in the area of scientific impact

Leiden ranking logo
In this year's edition of CWTS Leiden Ranking, Gdańsk University of Technology saw a significant rise in the area of scientific impact and obtained the best result among 31 Polish universities included in this ranking.

The CWTS Leiden Ranking is based on bibliographic data from the Web of Science (WoS) database, and this year's edition, covering 1,225 universities from 69 countries, focuses on publications from 2016-2019. The ranking classifies universities according to 4 indicators: scientific impact, collaboration, the number of open access publications and gender diversity. It is also published broken down into 5 scientific areas:

At present,  about 14 000 students have been studying at Gdańsk University of Technology. They can choose from eight faculties, where they gain knowledge and improve their skills necessary for employment.

Patent Attorneys Office

The Patent Attorneys Office supports the academic community of Gdańsk Tech in the field of industrial property rights by:

  • conducting application proceedings with the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland for obtaining exclusive rights to hold: patents for inventions, rights to register industrial designs, rights to protect utility models, rights to protect trademarks,

  • keeping central registers of patent applications for inventions and innovative solutions created at Gdańsk Tech,
