Rector's proxies in the 2020-2024 term

Six new programs for scientists from Gdańsk University of Technology

Names of programs
Creation of new research groups, employment of foreign scientists, research trips, purchase of specialist research and laboratory equipment are just some of the opportunities offered by new programs, which are part of the university's implementation of the tasks resulting from the ‘Excellence Initiative - Research University’ program.

Nobelium, Platinum, Einsteinium, Plutonium, Americium and Technetium - that's what the announced programs are called in short. They support, among others scientists obtaining prestigious international grants, they enable co-financing of publishing activities or financing the costs of scientific research and the development of young scientists in areas compatible with the activities of priority research area centers.

Meeting of the Minister of Science and Higher Education with rectors of public universities

Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, participated in the meeting of rectors of public universities as part of the NKN Forum initiative. During the meeting, such issues as the effects of implementing the act or the impact of COVID-19 on the science and higher education system were discussed. During the panel devoted to the university system, the rector of Gdańsk University of Technology spoke about the idea of an entrepreneurial university and adapting the provisions of the statute to the changing needs.

The meeting of the rectors elected for the 2020-2024 term with Wojciech Murdzek, Minister of Science and Higher Education, Deputy Minister Anna Budzanowska and Sebastian Skuza, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Finance took place on 10 September at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

Ombudsman

The Ombudsman is appointed to protect the rights and interests of university employees and PhD students, as well as to comply with ethical standards.
The Senate of the Gdańsk University of Technology entrusted this function to Professor Joanna Zukowska.

The term of office of the Ombudsman ends on 31 December 2028.

Inauguration of the academic year 2020/2021

The ceremonial meeting of the Senate of Gdańsk University of Technology inaugurating the 2020/2021 academic year will be held on 2 October at 11.15 am.

This year, due to the epidemic situation, the main ceremony inaugurating the new academic year will be held in a hybrid manner. The list of direct participants of the Solemn Senate Session has been limited, while all others will be able to take part in the Inauguration, thanks to the online broadcast available on the university's YouTube channel.

First 'Excellence Initiative - Research University' reporting conference

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education invites everyone to participate online in the 1st Reporting Conference of universities participating in the first competition under the ‘Excellence Initiative - Research University’ EIRU (pl. IDUB) program.

The conference, which is held as part of the NKN FORUM initiative on 15-16 September, is organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in cooperation with the University of Warsaw.

Argentum Triggering Research Grants

Argentum
Program ARGENTUM supports the scientific development of young researchers conducting research in the thematic field of Gdańsk Tech PRA and having the potential to successfully apply for prestigious external grants, including international grants, in particular ERC grants.

What can you gain

Up to 300.000 co-financing for a research project or up to 100.000 in the case of a grant for the beneficiary of the Stanisław Ulam NAWA program. Funds can be allocated, among others for scientific research, but also for the costs of purchasing small laboratory equipment, computer hardware and software, or the remuneration of the project team.

Aurum Supporting International Research Team Building

Aurum
Aurum Supporting International Research Team Builiding is a new program implemented as part of the "Initiative of Excellence - Research University" program. The program will be implemented at the university in the years 2020–2026 as part of the activities of the centers of Gdańsk Tech priority research areas. Its goal is to increase and enrich the scientific potential of Gdańsk Tech as a result of the creation of new research teams led by researchers from Gdańsk Tech, with the participation of foreign scientists.

What can you gain

As part of the program, you can get a university grant to finance the creation of a new research team. The funds can be allocated to cover the costs of operating in the structure of a team of foreign scientists, the costs of purchasing or creating research infrastructure, and the costs of international research cooperation. The maximum budget of the grant is five hundred thousand zlotys.

We are pleased to announce that the first edition of the Gdańsk Tech Rector's Grants competitions has been adjudicated. The aim of the first edition of the Grant was to develop a creative spatial concept for the exhibition hall and the exhibition and seminar hall in the Hydromechanics building.
