Inauguration of the academic year 2021/2022

The ceremonial meeting of the Senate of Gdańsk University of Technology on the occasion of the inauguration of the academic year 2021/2022 will be held on 1 October at 11.15.

Due to the epidemic situation, just like last year, the central ceremony inaugurating the new academic year will be held in a hybrid manner. The list of direct participants of the ceremonial session of the Gdańsk Tech Senate has been limited, while all those willing will be able to take part in the inauguration thanks to the online broadcast available on the university's YouTube channel.

NutRedOx - network activity closing meeting

On 19-21 September at Gdańsk University of Technology and the Radisson Hotel in Gdańsk, a meeting will be held to end the international project of the COST Action network (Cooperation in Science and Technology) with the acronym NutRedOx, whose partner is our university, and the vice-president is prof. Agnieszka Bartoszek from the Faculty of Chemistry.

The NutRedOx network brings together science and technology partners from 34 countries in Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, and the leading theme is “Personalized Nutrition in aging society: redox control of major age related diseases ”.

The partners' activities, which were carried out over the last four years, were financed under the European Framework Program Horizon 2020.

A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture of Gdańsk University of Technology, Hanna Obracht-Prondzyńska, PhD won a competition under the patronage of the National Spatial Development Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the best doctoral thesis in the field of spatial management.

The National Spatial Development Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences announced the settlement of the competition for the best doctoral dissertations in the field of spatial management. Two equal main prizes were awarded, one for the third place and two honorable mentions.

Students are sending a balloon into ... the stratosphere to study "mysterious" bacteria.

The stratospheric experiment by the SimLE research club, operating at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology and by the Gdańsk Tech Biotechnology Students Club, is getting closer to the final in the REXUS/BEXUS program (Rocket/Balloon Experiments for University Students). Recently, the students have successfully undergone the EAR (Experiment Acceptance Review), and in less than a week the experiment will be sent to Sweden.

The SimLE Research Club and the Gdańsk Tech Biotechnology Students Club jointly carry out the Stardust project, i.e. the missions of stratospheric balloons. The aim of this latest project is to study microorganisms in the stratosphere that have not been described yet. These microorganisms can be used in industry in the future, e.g. in pharmaceuticals.

Director of the GUT Library, Dr. Anna Wałek, was elected the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Polish Group of VIRTUA Users.  

The group operates under the Agreement on Cooperation of Libraries Implementing and Using VTLS / Virtua system. The Polish Virtua System Users Group was established in 1998. The group’s activities have been focused on improving the quality of services related to making knowledge and library resources available to the society. These activities are mainly based on shaping a common policy regarding the functionality of the VTLS / Virtua library system.

Gdańsk Tech cooperates with the Ministry of National Defense as part of the offset for the Polish Navy

Researchers from the Center of Maritime Military Technologies at Gdańsk University of Technology fulfill the obligations resulting from the agreement with the Ministry of National Defense regarding the implementation of the offset for the purchase of specialized helicopters for the Polish Armed Forces.  

On Tuesday, 17 August 2021, Gdańsk University of Technology was visited by Col. Robert Frommholz, director of the Offset Agreements Office of the Ministry of National Defense and Col. Michał Hresiukiewicz, legal advisor of the OAO MND. During their stay at Gdańsk Tech they met with the university authorities, management of the Naval Military Technology Center, and representatives of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of Gdańsk University of Technology.
