Students of ETI Faculty at a meeting with a researcher and vice president of META

Students of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of Gdańsk University of Technology, participants of the AI Tech program, met at New York University with Professor Yann LeCun. The scientist is considered a pioneer of convolutional neural networks, which have become a key proposal stimulating the modern development of artificial intelligence.

Professor Yann LeCun received the Turing Award in 2018 (often treated as the "Nobel Prize in Computer Science"). In addition to his work at a New York college, he is vice president and principal AI researcher at Meta (Facebook). Students of the ETI Faculty, together with their supervisor, professor Jacek Rumiński, were invited to a meeting with the team of professor Yann LeCun to discuss the mutually conducted work.

8th seminar Advanced Materials Center

8th seminar

The eighth seminar of the Advanced Materials Center will be held on June 27 at 2:15 pm in Auditorium 1L of WETI B (Building 42). Katarzyna Zakrzewska from the Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications, Stanislaw Staszic University of Science and Technology in Krakow will give a lecture entitled "TiO2-a fascinating material of the future?" and Dorota Pijanowska from the Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Science will give a lecture entitled "The future of biosensors - to be label-free?".

In the period July - September 2022, a survey was conducted among young researchers examining barriers to their development at the Gdańsk Tech. 42% of respondents answered the survey. Researchers identified the problems they face in various areas of functioning at Gdańsk Tech. The survey report is available after logging in to Strefa Pracownika (Employee Zone).

ENHANCE invites to participate in the workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education which will take place on JUNE 22, 2023, organised by WUT, especially among students and academic staff who are interested in AI.

During the ENHANCE workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, experts in AI in education from ENHANCE universities will deliver short speeches on using new technologies in teaching, providing valuable insights into the current state and prospects of AI tools from the perspective of their institutions.

The workshop will provide ample networking opportunities for participants to connect with like-minded professionals, form collaborations, and exchange ideas on the future of AI in education.

Gdańsk Tech will cooperate with Siemens

On 21 June Gdańsk University of Technology will host the Siemens - Digital Pathways 2023 Industry & Education Cooperation Meeting, during which the university authorities will sign a letter of intent on cooperation with Siemens Industry Software.

The event will take place from 10:00 to 15:00 at the STOS Competence Center (Traugutta 75 Street, building no. 51), and its co-organizers are: Gdańsk University of Technology, Gdańsk Tech Center for Offshore Wind Energy, Gdańsk Tech IT Center TASK, Siemens Industry Software and Siemens Ltd.

Gdańsk Tech scientists will repair mines belonging to the Navy

The Center for Security and Defense Technologies of Gdańsk University of Technology has signed an agreement with the Command of the Naval Port of Świnoujście on the implementation of works on the MMD-P sea mines. The contract is worth PLN 4.5 million gross.

Scientists from CSDT of Gdańsk Tech are to carry out the work in the years 2023-2025. These will cover diagnostics, repair and modification of MMD-P mines (Sea Bottom Mine - Measuring) at the Naval Ports in Świnoujście and Gdynia, as well as at the Polish Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte. Delivery and acceptance tests will be carried out on selected MW ships. However, the details of the new order must remain secret.
