Gdańsk University of Technology in the prestigious ranking of the best universities in the world

Gdańsk University of Technology is among the fifteen Polish universities on the prestigious list of the best universities in the world - QS World University Rankings 2021. It included eighty countries, evaluated five thousand universities, yet only one thousand of the best universities entered the main list.

QS World University Ranking is prepared every year by the British company Quacquarelli Symmonds, which edits publications on education and studying abroad. This is one of the four most important global educational rankings next to Times Higher Education (where Gdańsk University of Technology was the only technical university in Poland in 2019), the Shanghai Ranking and U-Multirank.

A scientist from the Polish Academy of Sciences among the most talented young researchers

PhD, Eng. Miłosz Wieczór from the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry of Gdańsk University of Technology is among the scholarship holders of the Polish Science Foundation in the START program, which aims to support outstanding young scientists. What's more, the scientist is currently working at the Barcelona Institute for Biomedical Research, as part of a prestigious postdoctoral research project, on the relationship between DNA damage and modification and broadly understood epigenetics, i.e. the way genetic information is interpreted in human cells.

The multi-stage competition within the START program [full list of laureates - HERE] evaluated, among others the quality of current scientific achievements documented by patents or publications in recognized Polish and foreign scientific periodicals.

Over the next three years, a team of scientists from the Department of Radiocommunication Systems and Networks from the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, headed by PhD, Eng. Krzysztof K. Cwalina, will carry out research work aimed at developing a configurable, hardware and software radio interface that will be used in intelligent devices of the Internet of Things, among others in the energy, gas and water supply sectors.

Gdańsk University of Technology is the oldest technical university in Poland. It was established in 1899, and the construction of its buildings was completed in 1904. Today, it is one of the largest technical universities in the country, educating nearly 14,000 students and employing over 1,300 academic staff members.
