Cooperation with the EDF concern in the field of offshore wind energy

The meeting was attended by: Sebastian Susmarski, PhD, director of the Center for Analyzes and Expertise of the University of Gdańsk, Kinga Kucharska-Michta, director of the Management  Board Office at EDF Renewables Polska, Marcin Lackowski, PhD, DSc, professor at FFM PAS, director of the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Sylwia Mrozowska, PhD, DSc, professor at UG, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Development of the University of Gdańsk, Alicja Chilińska-Zawadzka, Preside
Gdańsk University of Technology, the University of Gdańsk and the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences will cooperate with EDF Renewables Polska. The cooperation will include paid internships, participation of scientists in the assembly of measuring equipment on working turbines and the implementation of joint research and development projects.

Representatives of the Center for Offshore Wind Energy of Gdańsk University of Technology, the Center for Sustainable Development of the University of Gdańsk, the Robert Szewalski‘s Flow and Combustion Center of the Institute of Industrial Machines of the PAS in June signed a letter of intent regarding broadly understood scientific and academic cooperation with EDF Renewables Polska (EDF Renewables is a subsidiary of the EDF group and a world leader in the field of renewable energy).

On 25 October, Sultana Laily Hossain, the ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, met with representatives of Gdańsk University of Technology.

On behalf of Gdańsk Tech the meeting was attended by: prof. Janusz Nieznański, PhD, DSc, Eng., Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Innovation, Mariusz Kaczmarek, PhD, DSc, Eng., professor at Gdańsk Tech, Vice-Rector for Education, and Barbara Wikieł, PhD, professor at Gdańsk Tech, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs.

Rector's hours on 2 November

In connection with the celebration of All Saints on 1 November, on Wednesday, 2 November rector's hours will be in force till 12.00 (noon).

Free time from didactic classes is to allow our students to return safely from the cemeteries where we call to mind our deceased relatives these days.

World University Rankings by Subject 2023 results

World University Rankings by Subject 2023 results
Times Higher Education has announced the results of the World University Rankings by Subject 2023. Gdansk Tech was ranked in 4 categories: Business and Economy, Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Sciences. In two of them we achieved the best result in Poland!

In the Business and economy category, Gdańsk Tech was ranked in the 401-500 range, which is the best result among the 16 ranked Polish universities. We achieved the best result in the Poland in the "Citations" criterion (70.8 points), the criteria "Industry income"(34.4 points) and "International outlook" (20.8 points) were also highly rated.  It is worth noting that the Gdańsk Tech is ranked in this category for the first time.

The final ceremony of the "Bike to University" campaign!

"Bike to University" campaign!
The closing ceremony of the "Bike to University" campaign was held on October 21th. The campaign was organized by Gdańsk Tech and the University of Gdańsk, which cooperate as the Fahrenheit University Association. 

From May to September, more than 260 employees of the Gdańsk Tech registered their bicycle or scooter rides to and from work in a system specially prepared by the IT Services Centre (CUI), and received gadgets useful in their daily bicycle trips. Employees registered a total of 11 867 trips and rode a total of more than 90 000 kilometers, which is more than twice the circumference of the Earth! The best participant of the campaign rode more than 3 000 kilometers!

Office closed

CLOSED
On Monday, October 31st and on Tuesday, November 1st, the International Relations Office in building no. 14 and the Welcome Office in building no. 11 will be closed. We invite Gdańsk Tech staff and students again on Wednesday, November 2nd.

The two-day break in the operation of the International Relations Office and the Welcome Office is related to All Saints Day on November 1st and the long weekend. During this time, most of Gdańsk University of Technology units will be closed.

We invite you back on Wednesday, November 2nd. 

Great success - Justyna Szostak a new Director in CESAER

Justyna Szostak, PhD Eng, from the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics, chair of the Internationalization Committee and plenipotentiary of the dean for internationalization at the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics, was elected a Director in CESAER.

The thirty-sixth ordinary CESAER General Assembly hosted by Technische Universität Dresden elected new members of the Board of Directors to serve from 2023 to 2025:
