Towards even better personalized bone implants

Angela Andrzejwska, PhD, Eng.
Research by Angela Andrzejewska, PhD, Eng. may contribute to the development of medical technologies in the field of personalized solutions for implantation, e.g. filling of cavities in bones. The researcher will check how the strength of polymer structures produced by 3D printing changes under the influence of various sterilization methods and in an aqueous environment - similar to that found in the human body.

– 3D printing is not something new anymore, while some research areas are still undiscovered. Looking through the prism of the pandemic, researchers who deal with 3D printing have significantly contributed to the support of medics, for example by printing fragments of helmets or mask connectors. Based on these experiences, I thought that it would be worth checking how the material we print behaves under the influence of sterilization, i.e.

Gdańsk Tech Rector welcomes students and encourages them to vaccinate

The rector in the library
Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, addresses university students who will start the new academic year on 1 October 2021.

– I am very glad that we are starting the academic year in the traditional, face-to-face form. I hope that we will be able to conduct it entirely on the campus, not at home, in front of laptop and tablet screens. Remember that you can help us with this. I appeal to those of you who have not yet made use of the vaccination opportunity. Do it as soon as possible, helping yourselves, your relatives and all of us - says the rector of Gdańsk Tech.
